What does 1 Corinthians 6:19 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
We are the house of God. God is inside us. The things we do with our bodies are a part of how we worship Him. We are not only called to stay away from impurity, but also to honor God with our bodies and remember the sacrifice that bought our holiness.
Prayer
I confess to you, Father, that there are times when I forget how priceless my body is to you. I find it difficult to believe that I can glorify you with it, given my advancing years and the other struggles that daily serve as a reminder that my body is a vessel of decay. Please arouse in me a greater awe and adoration for your presence in me through the power of your indwelling Spirit. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
Yesterday, we were told about Solomon's great speech in the Old Testament when he opened the Temple. Paul says that it's hard to believe, but God has moved into us through His Spirit, just as majestically as He moved into the Jerusalem Temple. God's acceptance of us as His holy dwelling cost Him a lot: the death of His Son. How can we not respect the holy presence of God in us? In response to His grace, how can we not live holy lives?
Prayer
Please forgive me, dear Father, for forgetting how amazing it is that you live inside of me. Your Spirit is a gift that is both beautiful and humble. Again, Father, I promise to offer my body to you as your temple, a living sacrifice to please and honor you. I also know that, as your holy child, I need the presence and power of your Holy Spirit to please and honor you. By your Spirit, lead me, cleanse me, make me pure, and make me like Jesus. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer
Father, I'll be honest with You: I sometimes forget how important my body is to You. With getting older and other things that remind me every day that my body is a decaying vessel, it's hard for me to believe that I can honor You with it. Please, through Your Spirit that lives in me, make me more aware of and grateful for Your presence in me. I pray in the name of Jesus, whose death paid for my sins. Amen.
