Passage Context

11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

The fact that the Holy Spirit lives in us is proof that we are truly God's children. The Spirit helps us show what kind of person God is (Galatians 5:22). When we pray, the Spirit helps us (Romans 8:26-27). Romans 8:13 says that the Spirit gives us the power to fight sin and the strength to do things we never thought we could do (Ephesians 3:14-21). The Spirit comforts us when we're hurting and shows us that God is with us (John 14:15-26). The Spirit is the best proof that we belong to God (Romans 8:9; Romans 8:14-16). God is good to give us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit also helps us in many other important ways as God's children. Prayer

Father, I praise You for being holy, powerful, and majestic. I'm grateful for Your kindness. Your love, which saved me, has made me feel small. But today, dear Father, I'm most grateful for Your Holy Spirit, who lives in me and gives me strength, cleanses me, comforts me, and makes Your fatherhood real to me. Countless thanks. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
