1 John 5:14 ยท KJV

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:"

King James Version

What does 1 John 5:14 mean? โ†’

Passage Context

12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Devotional Reflection

LoveJoyPeaceGratitudeHopeAwe

Have faith before God. If you think about it, that's kind of a contradiction. But because Jesus is at the right hand of the Father and the Holy Spirit prays for us, we can have confidence and come boldly before the Creator of the universe, knowing that He not only hears us but also cares about us. Whoa, what a thought! Oh, and one more thing: He does what we ask of Him.

Prayer

Abba, I can't express how grateful I am to You, Father, for the kindness of Your listening ear. I give You my gratitude and love on this day through the power of Jesus, my brother, and the mercy of Your pleading Holy Spirit. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
