1 Peter 5:7 ยท KJV

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

King James Version

What does 1 Peter 5:7 mean? โ†’

Passage Context

5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

In a universe so unimaginably big and a world with so many different kinds of things, we can feel so small and helpless that we can't do anything. But when we have simple faith, we can be calmed by our respect and dependence on the One who made and keeps these wonders going, and it gives us a lot of comfort to know that our lives are in His hands.

Prayer

I'm grateful that you know me, Almighty and Wonderful God, even though I can't begin to imagine your majesty. I require your presence, love, concern, blessing, grace, and protection. I have nothing of lasting value without you. Please come close. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Isn't it amazing that the God who made the universe cares about our needs, fears, and hurts? So let's believe that He will do what's best for us and show it by living for Him.

Prayer

Loving Father and All-Powerful God, I give You all of my fears, worries, cares, and frustrations. I'll try not to think about them too much and trust that You'll do what's best for me and the people I care about. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

You've probably had something like this happen to you. Someone wants to know how you are. At first, they seem interested, but as you talk about the things that are bothering you, you realize that they aren't really listening or interested; they're just being nice. Most people already have so many things to worry about that they don't know what to do with more. Our Heavenly Father, on the other hand, says, "Don't worry about anything. You can tell me about all of them, because I really care about you.

Prayer

Father, in so many ways, I have been blessed. We really appreciate it. I do have some really heavy things that bother me, though. Please take care of the following things in a way that helps everyone and brings You the most praise. (Please tell the Lord what's on your mind and what's bothering you.) Thank You for listening to what I have to say and what's in my heart. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

So many times, our worries weigh us down because we won't let go of them. Let's give everything we have to the Lord. Let's put our future in His hands on purpose. Let's give Him our worries and fears. Because of what He did to save us, we know He loves us and wants to take care of and comfort us.

Prayer

Holy God and loving Father, I willingly give You all of my fears, worries, anxieties, and burdens. I know that I don't have much control over how these things will turn out, and I trust that You will make the best of these situations for both You and me. Please forgive me for my worried thoughts and for making my worries into an idol that keeps me from fully trusting You. Use the power and presence of Your Spirit to make me stronger and more able to trust You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
