What does 1 Thessalonians 4:8 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
In a world where people live by different rules, it's easy to ignore the call to be holy. Satan gets us to compare our lives to those around us, making us think that our sins aren't as bad as those of other people. But what matters is a thankful heart that has been cleansed by the Holy Spirit and saved by grace, not comparing how bad our sins are. When you ignore or downplay the Spirit's call to be holy, you are rejecting God. Let's care deeply about holiness in our lives, both because God wants it and because we should want it.
Prayer
Father, please forgive me for trying to make my sin seem less important. Use Your Spirit to make me want to be holy, and give me the strength to live in a way that honors You for all You did to save me. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
