King James Version
What does 1 Thessalonians 5:11 mean? โPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
Paul's advice here is great, but what we should pay the most attention to is how he gives it. We live in a time when we are constantly told to focus on what is new, different, or better. But as Christians, what we know is always more important than what we do. So, more often than we'd like to admit, we need to tell each other, "Hey, you're doing well; just keep doing what you're doing!
Prayer
Thank you, oh faithful Father, for noticing and noting the good and pleasing deeds I have performed. Please assist me in continuing to do the things You like best so that You can continue to be pleased and exalted. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
While Paul's exhortation is wonderful, it is the manner of the exhortation that should be highlighted. We live in a time when we are continually pushed to highlight the unique, new, or enhanced versions of things. However, as Christians, we believe that what we know is always more important than what we do. As a result, more often than we'd like to admit, we need to remind each other, "Hey, you're doing great; keep doing what you're doing!
Prayer
Thank you, faithful Father, for keeping track of the things I've done that make You happy and are good. Please help me keep doing the things that make You happy, but do them even better, so that You will be happy and praised. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
