19Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Generosity is a wonderful thing, and not just for the people who receive it. It's also great for the people who give it. By worldly standards, those of us who can read this devotional on a computer or through email are wealthy, so this passage about sharing our blessings is especially relevant. Let this giving season be God's chance to remind us that we should be generous with our time, energy, and money all year long.

Prayer

O God, who loves me so much, you have been so kind to me and given me so many amazing gifts. Thank you! Bring to mind in my heart the joy of giving. Make my heart more generous and kind like yours. Break down the worry and grumpiness that sometimes cloud my vision and keep me from sharing my time, money, energy, and love as I should. Thank you for teaching me how to be kind. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
