Devotional Reflection
Humility is not the most valued or most sought-after trait in our culture. But we need humility, not so much because it's a command (though that would be enough), but because we've "earned" it. Every year, there are many moral, character, and spiritual failures that are truly disheartening. Even on our best days, none of us is as holy as God. We're not getting better as a culture; instead, we're getting worse. We have "earned" the right to be humble before God. So let's be humble and call on the Lord, giving up our sin and seeking Him.
Prayer
Your faithfulness, Holy and Almighty God, is astounding; your actions are outstanding, and your mercy and grace are magnificent blessings. Despite the vast distance between us, between your worth and holiness and mine, I come to you knowing that you hear me. I accept that I have wrecked everything you so graciously gave us, as well as my culture and the country in which I live. At this point, I sincerely request that you reassert yourself in our country in a visible manner. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
Even though this passage is often used to talk about problems in nations and governments, let's not forget that the best way to apply it is in our own lives and in our churches. We can start a revival in our country if we pray every day, fast once a week, and long for God to come into our world and change it.
Prayer
O God, Father of all nations and peoples, please show us how powerful and kind You are by coming into our world. Use us to call the lost back to You. Use us as the first fruits of restoration and renewal. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
God told Solomon that the Temple would be a place where His people could pray and know that God would hear them if they did so in an honest and humble way. This promise is still true today, even though God's physical Temple isn't standing. However, His spiritual Temple is found when His people come together (1 Corinthians 3:16; Matthew 18:20). What a wonderful gift and a powerful blessing for us today! We know that God will hear us when we get together with other Christians, bow down before Him, and ask to be in His presence. Instead of waiting for a big, worldwide effort to start, why not meet regularly with other people who will pray with us?
Prayer
Loving Father, passionately I want your presence today. Please pardon me for my wrongdoing. I would appreciate it if you used me to be a positive influence in my time. Most importantly, Father, please move to bring revival and healing to our nation, our people, and our times. Our government and people desperately need your leadership, blessings, and character. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer
Holy and powerful God, your works are amazing, your loyalty is amazing, and your mercy and grace are such a blessing. Still, I come to you because I know you hear me, even though there is a huge gap between us in terms of your worth and holiness and mine. I admit that I, along with my culture and country, have messed up what you gave us so beautifully. I come to you in a humble way to ask that you show yourself again in our country in ways that everyone can see. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
