Devotional Reflection
What is most clear to you today? Is it what is seen or what is unseen? No matter what we believe, we have to trust what we can't see in the end. Even the most atheistic scientist believes in gravity, breathes air, and relies on principles that he or she can't see until they show up in the real world. But as Christians, we don't think the world we can see is just as real as the world we can't see. The world we can see is vulnerable to disease, disaster, decay, chaos, and death. I don't know about you, but I don't think something is very real if it doesn't last longer than that. I want to hold on to something. That means I have to look past what I can see to find my Father, who is hidden from view. He is the one who makes sure of what can't be seen!
Prayer
Father eternal and God of all, enlighten my vision so that I may perceive the spiritual, eternal, and true world of the unseen more clearly. Neither novelty nor the bizarre are things I'm looking for. I'm only interested in getting to know you so that I can more effectively share your truth and your character with others and encourage them to seek you out in the unseen realm. To your glory, kindly grant me more success in reaching out to others. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
Life isn't always easy. Our bodies will die at some point. In the course of living, we're going to have to deal with some very hard things and feel a lot of terrible pain. But as bad as life's hard facts can be, we are going to an eternal glory that we can't even imagine. All of life's problems can't compare to the glory that's coming. Our pain will pass. Things that hurt us only hurt us for a short time. All of the treatments, medicines, therapies, surgeries, and setbacks are short-term. All of these things we have seen and done are going away. But our eternal glory, our indescribable joy, and that great future we can't see yet are eternal, forever, and unchangeable, and they are waiting for us, God's precious children!
Prayer
Dear God, my Abba Father, please be with me when I'm going through painful and hard times. Help me to keep my mind on what I can't see. Also, dear Father, I want to ask You to be in the lives of the following people I care about. Please help them get better. If You can't heal them, please pour Your love into their hearts through the Holy Spirit and give them the strength to keep going and hope that can't be broken. Help them see how great You are. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
