2 Corinthians 5:17 ยท KJV

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

King James Version

What does 2 Corinthians 5:17 mean? โ†’

Passage Context

15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
16Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Devotional Reflection

LoveJoyPeaceGratitudeHopeCompassionAweContentment

Every Christian should have a sign on their forehead that says, "New and Improved!" When we come to Christ, He makes us new and cleanses us of all our sins. Because God is faithful and has the power to change things, this grace can be "new every morning." We receive God's grace and power through the Holy Spirit. We are new and better than before, and we will stay that way until we are completely transformed to be like Jesus (read 2 Corinthians 3:18).

Prayer

Have Your way with my heart, my will, my life, and my time, Holy Father. I want to give myself over to You so You can change me and make me better. I don't want to be content with where You've led me. No, dear Father. I want to be more like Jesus today and every day from now on. Thank You for Your gracious power. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
