Devotional Reflection
Probably no other Bible verse has caused as much trouble for ministers as this one. Even though this verse isn't just about marriage, it is a powerful reminder that when we join our lives with people who don't share our deepest values, we put our spiritual health at risk. Under the Law, God told the Israelites they couldn't put a donkey and an ox in the same yoke because it would hurt both of them. Paul tells Christians that the same is true in their most important relationships.
Prayer
Father God, I know that Your will isn't made up on the spot. I know that You only want the best for me. So, please give me wisdom as I choose my friends and partners. Help us live for You and share Your blessings and grace by helping each other. Help us persuade other people to learn more about You, Your mercy, and how You saved us. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
