Passage Context

5When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
6Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Power! We like the underlying concept. When it comes to divine power, "might makes right" because divine power is accompanied by self-control and love. These three factors add up to make a person's life constructive, beneficial, and useful. Live your life to the fullest. Do not conceal your faith out of a lack of courage to be firm and true. Instead, live by God's strength, show God's love, and exhibit God's virtues.

Prayer

Holy God, you are unmatched in power and majesty. Despite the fact that I have no right to be in your presence, you have graciously and lovingly invited me to come. You are my strength, my fortress, and my rock. I rely on your direction and your mercy to get me through my storms and to pick me up when I fall. I worship you, holy God; you are without comparison. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

When we decided to follow Christ, He gave us the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; Titus 3:3-7). The Spirit lives in us and makes our bodies a temple (1 Cor. 6:19โ€“20). This gives us many blessings (Romans 8). Because the Spirit is with us, we can be brave even when people attack, criticize, or make fun of us. The fruit that the Spirit gives us (Gal. 5:22โ€“23) and the love that the Spirit pours into our hearts (Rom. 5:5) empower us to live according to God's will. The Spirit's presence is a powerful force that helps us overcome sin (Rom. 8:13) and live self-disciplined lives.

Prayer

Father, I'm grateful that the Spirit is always with me. Please give me even more courage and strength to face the challenges I encounter every day. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Power! We like the idea behind it. Might does make right when it comes to godly power because godly power comes with love and self-discipline. Together, these three things make a person's life useful, helpful, and corrective. Live your life to the fullest. Don't hide your faith because you're afraid to be true and firm. Instead, live by God's power, share God's love, and show God's virtues.

Prayer

Holy God, your power and greatness are unmatched. I have no right to be in your presence, but your love and grace have brought me here. You are my Strength, my Rock, and my Fortress. I depend on your wisdom and kindness to get me through my storms and pick me up when I fall. Holy God, you are the best, and I bow down to you. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
