Passage Context

26Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Devotional Reflection

I have Christ in me. He lives in me until the power of the Spirit makes me completely like Him (2 Corinthians 3:18). He lives in me until I can go home and be with Him (John 14:1-21). He is with me everywhere I go and in everything I do. Our goal is not just for Him to live in us, but for Him to become more complete in us. That will be done, of course, by His power and the gift of His Spirit!

Prayer

God, may the power of Jesus in me motivate me to carry out Your will today. Please draw my attention to Your character and Your concerns through the presence of Your gracious Son and Your enduring grace. Jesus, please transform my heart into that of our Father. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Our goal as Christians is not to obey some law, to adhere to some set of rules, or even to be followers of some discipline. Our goal as Christians is to be conformed to the character and ministry of Jesus. This is what the Spirit does in us (2 Corinthians 3:18), and Paul makes it clear here and elsewhere (Galatians 4:19) that this is what he wants to accomplish when he works with other people. Shouldn't we also do this as parents, friends, and spiritual guides?

Prayer

Holy Lord, make everything I do and say, and everything I do in my ministry and in my life, more like Jesus. Not just in my words, but also in my actions, I want Him to be my Lord. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

The life of Jesus changes everything. The fact that Jesus rose from the dead changes everything. The Gospel of Jesus changes lives. The Spirit that Jesus gives changes things. The message of Jesus changes everything. The work Jesus did changed things. In other words, Jesus is the key to what we do and why we do it. He is also the center, the hub, and the heart of what we do. Paul also tells us that our goal is Jesus Christ.

Prayer

Father, please forgive me. I'll admit that in my desire to help others, I've sometimes forgotten that Jesus has the power to change their lives and instead relied on my own limited resources. As I try to learn more about Christ and become more like Him in my daily life, please use me to bring other people to Him and help them become like Him. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is the most important name, in Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen.
