Devotional Reflection

FearShame

Moses started his last message to Israel by reminding them that their parents didn't follow God's instructions to enter the Promised Land. The Israelites will have to follow a leader other than Moses for the first time in their lives when Moses dies. Moses wants them to know that God hasn't changed and is still their real leader. In the time of Moses, God had done great things for them. Now, God will use Joshua to do great things in their day. They won't just have second-hand stories of people being saved to tell their grandchildren. They will see with their own eyes how powerful and reliable God is. But they will have to do what their parents didn't do and believe in something that their ancestors didn't.

Prayer

All glory and honor go to You, Almighty and Sovereign LORD, for all the great things You have done to redeem, save, fulfill, and bless Your people throughout the ages. I ask You, dear LORD, to bless Your people today with the faith to believe in Your power, the heart to obey Your Word, and the eyes to see that Your great work is not yet done. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
