Devotional Reflection
When we become Christians, we are made new. Most of us, though, have times when our old ways of living come back and want to be seen. This means that we have to decide every day to be new for the rest of our lives. As we make that promise and try to follow the lordship of our Savior, we are promised the power of the Holy Spirit, which Paul talks about a lot in Ephesians. The Spirit's goal is to make us more like Christ as we grow up (Eph. 4:12โ16; 2 Cor. 3:18).
Prayer
Almighty God and dear Heavenly Father, please bless me today as I try to live as a new person, cleansed, made holy, and given power by Your Spirit. Give me a fresh mind as I choose to leave behind my old habits and wants. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
We can't fix ourselves by ourselves. We can protect ourselves from things that might make us bad. We can give ourselves to God and learn more about what He wants from us (Romans 12:1-2). God must do the renewing in the end, not just when we are saved, but every day. Only God's grace can keep us going, give us strength, and make us new. Let's give Him our hearts. Then, let's ask with confidence for His grace to make us strong, perfect, and new!
Prayer
Father, I come to You to ask that You give me the grace to change the way I see things, especially people. Please make me new in my mind and spirit and cleanse my heart. I want to spend the next year sharing Your love, being strengthened by Your Spirit, and being aware of Your grace. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
