Devotional Reflection
Not a single clue! You wish it were true, don't you? This rule doesn't quite fit the church I go to or the person I see most often in the mirror. If sexual temptation doesn't get us, greed often does. In a culture where people like to show off how much they buy, greed worries me more than immorality and impurity. Not because I don't care about impurity, but because we are so used to our own greed that it doesn't bother us anymore. Let's be honest about what we want, what we get, and what we have during this season of giving.
Prayer
Lord, please forgive me for being selfish and greedy. Give me a heart like yours, please. You showed that you had this kind of heart when you gave your most valuable gift to sinners like me. I am now a child at your table and an heir to your wealth. Thank you for being kind. Please, dear Lord, bless me with your Spirit, which wants to make my heart kind and generous. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
