Devotional Reflection
How often do you forget that a spiritual war is going on? Our enemy is sneakily smart. If a threat doesn't feel like it's happening right now, the danger seems to be gone. But he's always there. Paul tells us not to try to figure out the evil one's plans and counter all of his moves. Instead, we should just use the tools God has given us to stand up to him.
Prayer
Protect me from the evil one, Lord of Hosts, my Great Deliverer, with Your awesome power. Give me a sense of urgency as I contend daily with Satan and his plans, but also give me assurance that Jesus has already overcome my adversary. Assist me in resisting this adversary and demonstrating my loyalty to You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
We are at war! We have to fight every day, and not just against sin and temptation. We have a real enemy whose goal is to get rid of us. But our enemy has already been defeated, and his angels have been told to go away. So, let's keep our spiritual strength, knowing that we're not just playing church but fighting for the Kingdom.
Prayer
I praise You, Almighty and Victorious King, for defeating sin, death, and the law for us and making us righteous and free of sin through Your grace. Thank You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
The battle we're in isn't with our bodies. Instead, it is a spiritual battle between very powerful forces that are hard to see. We shouldn't think of this as a fake fight or a fight that doesn't matter. Satan was crouching at Cain's door, wanting to get him, just as he is crouching at ours, wanting to get us (Genesis 4:7). He will do everything he can with his evil forces to beat, kill, or corrupt us. We must take this war seriously and understand that our enemy has spiritual power.
Prayer
Father, please forgive me when I haven't taken danger seriously. Give me a holy disgust for everything that is connected to what is not holy and goes against Your work and will. Don't let me be fooled by temptation, and save me from all of the evil one's forms. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
