Passage Context

11Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
12Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.
13Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.

Devotional Reflection

As a minister, I have the honor of being there for many of the most important times in people's lives. Whether the situation is good or bad, being at a crossroads in life is a sacred trust. When things are hard, like when someone I love is dying or has died, verses like this one give me strength and remind me why I said yes to a call to serve in waters that were way over my head. God's promise here is a great reminder that He would finish what He started when He saved His people from Egypt by bringing them to the Promised Land. We can now hear a stronger promise in these words. We have even more reason to believe in them. God did for Israel what He said. Since He did it for them, why can't we say with confidence, "In Your strength, You will guide them to Your holy dwelling?

Prayer

Tender Shepherd, you have helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. Please let me know who you are, because right now I'm trying to live for you. Even though I'm sure that you're leading me to your heavenly home, I have to admit that the path gets hard and faith gets difficult sometimes. Lord, give me new courage, like you did for Joshua and Moses when they were afraid to go into battle. Then, my Lord, please use me to lead others to your promise and to your door. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
