Devotional Reflection
One. Simple, straightforward, and easy to understand. By believing in Christ and being baptized into Him, we become one with all the other Christians in the world. We no longer care about race, gender, or social status. One, Jesus, is the only one left. Our lives are tied together because He is in them. We're all going to the same place: heaven. The church is our family. No barriers. No doors shut. We're all one.
Prayer
Father, I'm grateful that You accepted me into Your family. May we unite as one here on earth as we will unite around Your throne in heaven. In order for the world to know there is a solution to conflict, strife, and division, I pray for unity among all those who call upon Your name and share Your Spirit. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could knock down all the barriers that separate us, including those that are ethnic, sociocultural, financial, and related to sexual identity? In order to tear down the barriers that separated people, Paul worked tirelessly to bring them to Jesus and the cross. At the foot of the cross, there are no superior or inferior roles. There is no place in heaven for those who do not recognize God's strength through sacrifice or God's love, even when it is wounded by cruel people. It is essential to remember that we can only be one in Jesus, regardless of how the culture and people attempt to divide us.
Prayer
God, forgive me for allowing bias and mistrust to prevent me from fully appreciating fellowship with those You have referred to as Your children. As I strive to love Your children as You do, I pray that my life will serve as an example of reconciliation and harmony. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
One. Basic, simple, and easy to grasp. When we become Christians through faith and baptism into Christ, we are made one with all other Christians across the globe. Race, gender, and social standing are no longer barriers. One, Jesus, is the only one left. Our lives are tied together because He is in them. We're all going to the same place: heaven. The church is our family. No barriers. No doors shut. We're all one.
Prayer
Thank you, Abba Father, for taking me into Your family. May we be as one on earth as we will be when we are all around Your throne in heaven. I pray for unity among all those who call on Your name and share Your Spirit, so that the world can see that there is a way out of conflict, strife, and division. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
Wouldn't it be great if we could get rid of all the walls that keep us apart? These walls can be based on race, class, income, or gender. Paul spent his whole life trying to do just that: bring people to Jesus and the cross to break down the walls that kept them apart. At the foot of the cross, there are no positions of superiority or inferiority. There is only a place for those who see God's power in sacrifice and God's love even when it is being hurt by cruel people. Even though culture and people's selfishness are always trying to split us up, we must remember that we can only be one in Jesus.
Prayer
God, please forgive me when I've let my prejudices and suspicions keep me from getting along well with people you've called your children. As I try to love your children like you do, I pray that my life will be an example of redemption and unity. In the name of Jesus, whose last wish was for everyone to get along, I pray. Amen.
