King James Version
What does Galatians 6:2 mean? โPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
Sometimes I feel like I have so much on my plate that I can't even see what other people are going through. But Jesus tells me that if I want to be like Him, I have to carry other people's burdens. He became one of us to take away the hardest things we had to carry. The Lord died so that we wouldn't have to carry the weight of sin, death, and hell. Jesus has given us a blessing by taking on our biggest problems so that we can help those around us.
Prayer
Father of compassion, help me to recognize the struggles that people around me are facing and to offer support in return. Please guide me in finding my place and my means of serving to your glory because I want to be a blessing to the hurting and discouraged. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
I didn't know Jesus had a law!" Well, He doesn't have a written one like the ones in the Old Testament (2 Corinthians 3). No, it is written on our hearts by the Spirit and changes who we are. This law frees us from the written law (James 2:11โ17) and emphasizes the guiding principle of Jesus' life, which was to sacrifice and serve others (Philippians 2:5-11). This is much more than just a set of rules. It is a strong desire to be like Christ.
Prayer
Almighty and kind Father, I want to be as passionate about helping others as Jesus was. I want others to see Your love and grace in my life and praise You for it. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
This is just another way to say, "Love your neighbor as yourself!" Jesus came to carry our problems and take away the shame and pain that come from our sin. Read Isaiah 53 for a powerful description of God's Suffering Servant. This passage is often used to talk about Jesus. Now, He wants us to live in ways that are good and helpful to those around us. We are called to do more than just pray or ask what we can do to help. We are to serve, minister, and help those who are struggling.
Prayer
Holy and merciful God, please give me eyes to see, a heart ready to serve, and hands ready to help the people in my path who need a hand. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
