Passage Context

16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
18And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

Devotional Reflection

LoveGratitudeHope

There are two very important ideas here. First, God cares about us and gives us what we most need. Second, God made us to have a relationship with Him and with a husband or wife. Yes, both Matthew 19 and 1 Corinthians 7 say that some people are made to be single, but most of us are meant to be with someone else. God gives us marriage and a godly husband or wife as a gift. Let's follow His design!

Prayer

Holy God, I want to say thanks for thinking about what I need. I ask you so often for what I want instead of what I need. Thank you for not doing what I wanted but what was best for me. Now, dear Father, please help me see the people who are important to me as gifts from you. In the name of Jesus, the best gift I could ever receive, in Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen.
