Devotional Reflection

FearShame

We should show God respect because He is a fire that burns. Hmm. What's the meaning of that? Is it about how holy He is? Does this tell us not to judge? Is this a sign of how clean He is? The answer is a resounding yes! So, you can see that God is holy, pure, and good. Compared to how perfect He is, our flaws, failures, and sins stand out like a sore thumb. But instead of killing us all with His holy fire, He can clean us up and make us better than we were before. So we can not only get closer to Him because of Jesus, but we can also stay close to Him if we live like Jesus in our world (cf. Hebrews 13). That, my dear friend, is the best kind of worship!

Prayer

Please forgive me for what I've done wrong, how weak I've been, and how my faith hasn't been put to the test. Thank you for giving up Your Son so that I could be made perfect and holy by Your grace and come before You without breaking Your holy rules. May what I do this week show how holy You are and raise up Your holiness. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
