Passage Context

8But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
9Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
10Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
11Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
12Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

Devotional Reflection

Fear drains our willpower and makes us feel weak and without hope. But very few of us have ever been so completely and bitterly defeated as God's people were when Isaiah brought his message of hope to them. The fact that God protected Israel through all of their terrible times up until the time of Jesus, raised Jesus from the dead when it seemed like everything was lost, and helped the Church win through centuries of persecution and opposition are all powerful reminders that we are held by the arms of a powerful and loving God who will bring us to share in His eternal victory in the end.

Prayer

It is such a sweet consolation to know that You are always there, Almighty and Eternal Father. I appreciate You being there for me no matter what and making sure I win! In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

We are not only blessed by God, but we also have His presence with us. We can never be somewhere where He is not (Psalm 139:1-24). His power and presence will hold us up and make us stronger. No matter what happens to our bodies or our world, God has given us the ultimate victory over every enemy and every bad thing in Jesus. Even those who don't believe in Jesus and those who hate Him will worship our Lord and kneel at His feet. They will see that our faith is not only right, but it is also victorious (1 Thessalonians 1:1-10).

Prayer

Father, thank you very much! You are not only the God of the heavens; you are also my God. You know me and are interested in me. You hear my pleas for help and kindness. You understand how hard things are for me. Please save me from both physical and spiritual enemies, and give me the courage to stand firm in my faith in You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

The history of God's people, Israel, is a story of victory, protection, and loyalty. We have God with us. God thinks about us. God hears us when we pray. God wants to bless us and keep us safe. God wants us to be strong and stable. Let's put our hope in Him.

Prayer

God, you are my God, and I want to honor and glorify you. Please give me the courage to live my life with passion and victory for you. I trust that as I show your character and live for your glory, you will strengthen and support me through your mighty presence within me and your mighty arm of grace around me. I have put my hope in you. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
