Isaiah 61:10 · KJV

"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels."

Passage Context

8For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
9And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.
10I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
11For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Devotional Reflection

LoveJoyPeaceGratitudeHopeAwe

This is what God says He will do for His people when their Messiah comes to heal them and give them the Lord's favor. In many ways, this is what Christians proclaim. We have much to be joyful about because God has saved us from the law, sin, and death by sending our Savior and Lord. As God's children, because of what Jesus did for us, we are clothed with Christ (Gal. 3:26–27) and given the garments of salvation and the robes of His righteousness.

Prayer

Thank you, dear Father, that Jesus' death on the cross made me righteous. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving me life by paying the price for my sins. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for washing my sins away and giving me the strength to live for God. Dear God, I want to live in a way that shows everyone around me that You have healed me and made me holy. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
