King James Version
What does James 1:5 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
Wisdom is that hard-to-get quality that we admire in other people but find hard to develop in ourselves. But God says that those who truly ask will receive it. Don't forget the secret of asking: ask, seek, and knock. Or better yet, check out Proverbs 2. Wisdom is ours only if we want it more than anything else and value it more than anything else. God wants to give it to us, but there's something about spiritual wisdom that requires us to value it first before we can receive it.
Prayer
God, the generous giver of all good things, grant me wisdom today. Let me make decisions that reflect your will and aim to bring you glory. As I make decisions, let your Kingdom direct my thoughts, and let your Spirit guide me in your ways. Father, I confess that without your assistance, I am unable to direct my own steps. So please give me wisdom today. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
So often, we do things we shouldn't because we don't know any better. God wants to give us spiritual wisdom, which helps us not only make good decisions but also act and react with grace and wisdom. Let's go to God and ask for wisdom before we face each day, before we face hard situations, and before we make difficult choices.
Prayer
Holy Father, I need Your wisdom to help me make the correct judgments amid the obstacles and situations that will present themselves today. Please pour Your knowledge into my heart and mind so that my actions, words, and choices may not only be acceptable to You, but also a gift to everyone around me. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer
Kind God who gives good things, please give me wisdom today. Let everything I do be in line with Your will and for Your glory. Let Your Kingdom guide my heart as I decide what to do, and let Your Spirit show me the way You want me to go. I'm sorry, Father, but I can't figure out where to go without Your help. So give me a wise mind today. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
