"For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul."
King James Version
What does Jeremiah 31:25 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
God repeatedly warned His people in Jeremiah's horrific, frightening, and tragic predictions that He would destroy them because they were obstinate and had hard hearts. But, in the midst of these dire warnings, God inserts passages of mercy and hope. The promise of God to "refresh the exhausted and satisfy the weak" is possibly the most reassuring thing you can imagine. For seventy years, Israel had nothing except God's promise. But, when the time came, God honored His word. I believe He will treat us similarly today.
Prayer
Dear Shepherd, I'm exhausted and worn out. Please grant my body and mind some relaxation. Help me to enjoy everything that You have already given me. You alone deserve all praise, strength, and power. I humbly submit to You in faith as I wait for the relaxation and fulfillment You have promised. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
