What does Jeremiah 33:3 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
Think about how powerful God must be if He made all the stars and knows what each one is called. Consider all the things He knows that we don't. Think of all the things He has seen that aren't in our books. Think about what He's done and what He can do. Add to that the fact that He wants us to talk to Him about what's in our hearts, and you can see how big His grace is and how little our minds know.
Prayer
Oh my God, there are so many things that I know nothing about. My world is so full of things that I can't keep up. I want to know so much about you, but I can't even begin to fathom it. Dear Father, please give me more of you. Help me learn more about you so that I can get to know you better personally. Please be gentle with me as you reveal yourself; you are beyond me. I eagerly anticipate meeting you face to face in heaven, my Abba Father, the Unsearchable and the Almighty God. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
God desires that we seek Him and pray to Him. He wants to respond to us and inform us of things that are incomprehensible to us. He desires our closeness so that we may get to know Him. We are able to call on Him in the same way that a fearful child might call to a loving father who is in the next room, knowing that He will respond, watch over, and soothe us. More than that, however, our Father will make truths known to us that, without His mercy, we would not be able to understand.
Prayer
I really want to know you and to be known by you, Almighty God and Abba Father. Yes, there are things in my life and heart that I wish didn't exist. But I am aware of your grace, and I have faith that you are aware of my desire to share your grace and reflect your grandeur. Thank you for giving me the gift of being your child and for providing for my future. In Jesus' name, I ask. Amen.
This was first said to Jeremiah about what would happen to Jerusalem. But this promise is also true for us in unique ways. God wants to hear from us. God often waits for us to ask for what He wants to give us before He gives it to us. Still, we can't understand and accept all the great truths about God. We can't fully understand His grace because He is just too big and beautiful.
Prayer
Father and All-Powerful God, You are amazing and hard for me to understand. Dear Father, please surprise the world by coming when no one is looking for You. I really want to learn more about You, dear Father. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
