Passage Context

9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Devotional Reflection

FearShame

Jesus came to the world He had made and the land He had promised to His people, but they didn't want to have anything to do with Him. Sometimes, our hopes and dreams for Jesus can make it hard to see what He really wants for us and from us. Let's not let these things happen to us. I met Jesus, but I wasn't ready to accept Him. Before I gave Him my whole heart, I had other things I wanted to do and experiences I wanted to have. Every time we put off giving Jesus our will or reject Him as Lord, our hearts get harder, and it becomes easier and easier to reject Him. Now, while our hearts are still open to His grace, let's make a new promise to Him and give Him our whole hearts and lives for His grace and glory.

Prayer

Holy God, I give my heart over to You. Jesus, I know You are my Lord more than ever before, and I want to serve You with my whole life. Please forgive me for the times I didn't want to follow You or didn't do what You asked. I know that You gave up everything to save me. So, please shape me into the person You want me to be and use me in ways that bless others and bring You glory. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
