King James Version
What does John 3:5 mean? โPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
Conversion and the new birth depend on the Holy Spirit and water, respectively. The whole New Testament supports this. One is an act of capitulation and submission. The second is a gift and a reminder that only God has the ability to transform us. Jesus' decision to make them such significant components of His Kingdom is thus understandable.
Prayer
You are a holy and just God, Father. I am aware that I am not consistently reliable despite my best attempts. I'm very grateful that You extended Your kindness to me through Jesus and transformed me into a brand-new member of Your family by giving me a spiritual birth.
