Passage Context

25And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
26Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Devotional Reflection

GratitudeHopeDoubt

What do you spend most of your time working on? Is it a boss, a raise, a feeling of significance, or a secure way of life? It's hardly permanent if you may lose it or have it taken away, is it? The only thing that lasts is what Jesus offers us, which is a gift from God. So, how can you really commit to work that "lasts forever"?

Prayer

Please, God, make my thoughts clear so that I may more clearly understand the goals I am striving to achieve in life. Find methods for me to invest my time and money in things that will last forever. However, I must acknowledge that I will need your assistance if I'm going to discover my value in my connection with you rather than in what I do, produce, or achieve. I ask for your pardon and strength as I make a commitment to put you first in everything I do. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
