Passage Context

35Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
36What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Streams of water: water that revives fading hopes, water that cools parched souls, and water that restores the weary and worn out. This isn't simply some beverage we can sip with our lips. This is the most vital spiritual water that God wants to give us, His children. Let us spend August refreshing ourselves with Jesus' promises and believing that the Spirit will heal our spirits as we draw closer to Him.

Prayer

I appreciate you, dear Father, for giving me Jesus to rescue me and the Holy Spirit to sustain and improve me. Bless me as I work to become closer to my Savior, and let the living water of your Holy Spirit renew and repair my spirit, particularly this month. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
