Devotional Reflection
Just like Joshua and the Israelites, we need to be reminded that God gave us His Law to help His people. Israel was given the Law to help them follow God's will every day. God told them they would be blessed if they followed His rules. God is also the one who made everything. He knows how people can live in the best way that fits with the rules of His universe. His Law wasn't meant to stop His people from being happy and enjoying their lives. Instead, it was to help them get ahead in life and be happy. Paul tells us over and over again in Galatians that we are no longer under the Law. But when we live by the Spirit, our behavior becomes like that of Jesus, who fulfilled the Law and brings us the blessings God has always wanted. Bottom line: It is good for us to do what God wants and be like Him.
Prayer
Thank you, loving Father, for putting Your will into words so I can know how to live for You better. I know that doing what You want is good for me and those around me. Give me Your Spirit so that I can fully show Your character and grace in my life and through my example. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
