Passage Context

26And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
28And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

Devotional Reflection

HopeAwe

Wow! This is such a well-known, emotional sentence. An angel goes to Nazareth to see a young woman who is about to get married and talk to her. Before she hears the news that will change history, she is told, "The Lord is with you." This will be truer than she could have imagined.

Prayer

I've sung this prayer to you many times, O God: "Lord, be with me; I am unable to survive without Thee. I can't bear to go it alone for even one step." Father, I need your constant presence to meet life's challenges. I am grateful to wake up each day knowing that you will support me, just as you have done for your children throughout the ages. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

I've asked you, O God, many times: "Lord, be with me. I can't live without you. I can't stand to take even one step by myself." Father, I need you to be with me always so I can face life's challenges. As you've always been there for your children, I'm glad to know that I won't have to face each day alone. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
