Passage Context

8I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.

Devotional Reflection

LoveJoyPeaceGratitudeHopeAweContentment

God listens to our prayers. Recent research on people who had surgery and were prayed for by others seems to back this up. Our experience suggests it is true. The Bible says that it will happen. But Luke focuses on one specific answer to prayer that people who want to find God get. God wants to give us a really great and wonderful gift: the Holy Spirit, which is His presence in us (vs. 13). Because the Spirit lives in us, God can do things for us and through us that we can't even think of.

Prayer

Loving Father, the fact that Your Son died on the cross for my sins is a wonderful gift. The gift of being saved by Jesus is more wonderful than words can say. Your gracious gift of Your Holy Spirit to me is a comfort and a source of strength. Thank You for letting me know that when I look for You, You want to bless me. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
