Devotional Reflection
God's decision to send His Son into the world has always amazed me. He had many options for how to do it, but He chose to come into the world in this way, as a helpless baby who had to be cared for by parents who were weak in so many ways. Yet Joseph and Mary, along with everyone else around them, were caught up in the great joy of this new child. This was true even though there were challenges ahead and a mystery that made no sense. God bless this new hope!
Prayer
O God, grant me a heart of faith so that I may always perceive Your grace and sovereignty being lavished on me in unique ways. The fact that You, the universe's Creator and Sustainer, decided to come into my world as a child makes me very happy. I am grateful that You entrusted Your wonderful salvation to human flesh so that we could know that we were accepted into Your world in order to make it right for ours. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen.
Jesus came into the world the way most babies do: His mother gave birth to Him, He was wrapped in soft cloth, and He was put in a crib. Only this baby was the Son of God. His crib was a place where animals ate corn, not a place where babies sleep. His room was a stable because He didn't have any other place to live. Not only was it not normal, but it was also uncommon and even below average for His birth. Can you imagine? The Holy God who made everything comes to our world as a baby to live as one of us and share our way of life. Why? He wants us to come home to Him because He loves us. Incredible! What an amazing story. A lot of love. God is so amazing!
Prayer
How can I show You, LORD God Almighty, how much the gift of Your Son means to me? I can't believe how much You love me. It makes me happy and makes me wonder. Please know that I love and praise You and Your Son. Thank You, loving Father, for Your gift that can't be put into words. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

God, give me a heart of faith so that I can always see how Your power and grace are at work in my life. I'm glad that You, the Creator and Sustainer of the whole universe, chose to come into my world as a child. Thank You for putting Your great salvation in the hands of human beings so we could know that You thought we were worth enough for You to come to our world to make us right for Yours. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
