What does Mark 6:49 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
Jesus is nearby in the midst of our storms and concerns. He's only waiting for us to express our fear and need so He may join us in our darkest moments and assist us in getting through them. Surprisingly, Jesus' remarks in this passage are, "Don't be scared! I Am." God revealed Himself to Moses as "I Am" in Exodus 3. He informed Moses that He had heard the Israelites' cries and seen how difficult life was for them, and that He was now coming down to assist them. The same may be said about us.
Prayer
God, I thank You for being not only there but also nearby and always prepared to hear my cries of dread and anguish. Please pardon me for not incorporating You and the Lord Jesus into my daily life more. I know You are nearby, so I ask that You not only let me know You are there but also gently let me know when I make an effort to push You out of my day-to-day activities. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
