Devotional Reflection
Whoever comes first will come last, and whoever comes last will come first. One of Jesus's favorite things to say was this. Isn't it strange that God said it before He was even born? Isn't it interesting that it was also said by people who knew the Bible but didn't know Jesus? Isn't it interesting that Herod and Jesus lived it thirty years before Jesus taught it? Isn't it interesting that Jesus gave us the Lord's Supper to remember that even though He died and shed His blood, He rose again on Sunday, the first day of the week? When it really matters, Jesus and His followers will come in first.
Prayer
You are amazing, Lord. You are the holiness and majesty of the Creator, God Almighty. But in order for me to share in Your glory, You became the least. God, please help me to never belittle someone else because they appear to be the least. Father, I am aware that by helping and loving them, I am also helping and loving You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
There is a reason why Jesus was born in Bethlehem. God, who is all-powerful, had told His prophets about this a long time ago. Even Herod's religious advisors knew that the Messiah would be born in the charming old city of David. In the city of Israel's great king, poet, and shepherd, the promised Messiah would come into the world. This was what God wanted. It is also a reminder that God always does what He says He will do.
Prayer
Even though I love God, it's hard for me to finish my plans and keep my promises. This makes it so amazing to me that Your plans, which were hinted at in the Old Testament, are coming true. Please use Your Spirit to remind me when I'm feeling down that You always keep Your promises and will save me right on time. Please give me the patience to wait for Your salvation faithfully and the courage to live until it is fully shown. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer
You, O Lord, are marvelous. You are God Almighty, the Creator who is holy and powerful. But You chose to be the least so that I could share in Your glory. Please help me, God, to never look down on someone because they don't look as good as I do. Father, I know that when I help and love them, I'm also helping and loving You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
