Devotional Reflection
What drives us to do what we do? It's so simple to perform religious acts to make oneself appear good in the eyes of others. This is true even when our society rejects our beliefs. People who are familiar with our religion and other Christians in our lives become the focal point of our activities. Even though we wish to have the proper type of impact on everyone around us, we should never make spiritual service choices primarily based on how others will perceive them. Our purpose should be to please God while also helping others.
Prayer
Almighty God, please purge any erroneous motives from my heart and enable me to serve others out of a desire to please You by meeting their needs. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
Compassion is not about making yourself look good, and it is not a private feeling that only you experience. Christians should always act in the best interest and for the greater good of those in need, without drawing attention to themselves or their sacrifices. God gives us what we need to bless others, and He takes care of the reward when our goal is to please Him and let Him use us to bless people in need.
Prayer
God, who loves and cares for us, use me every day to help someone in need. Please help me see and hear the people around me who need emotional support or money. Please give me the courage to bless them and bring them closer to You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
