Passage Context

Devotional Reflection

FearShame

Can you think of something scarier than the idea that God might not forgive our sins? We know how much He paid to make up for our sins. We know He loves us a lot. We know how much He wants us to get to know Him. So why wouldn't He just forgive us? Because we show that we don't get it or don't understand it! God is kind, and He won't take people who aren't kind.

Prayer

Holy Christ, there are some people I find it hard to forgive. Please, as I pray right now, let Your Spirit soften my heart, cleanse my soul of any anger or bitterness, and give me the strength to let go of the pain of the past and forgive. I'm grateful that You've given me the grace not only to be forgiven but also to forgive. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
