Passage Context

18What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
19For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
20According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

22But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

Devotional Reflection

FearShame

Do you live your life with an end goal in mind? Paul had at least these two: "I don't want to be ashamed, but brave," and "I want Christ to be exalted in my body, by life or by death." How about you? Could you help Paul reach his goals? How do these long-term goals help us all? Why is it hard to live with these ultimate goals?

Prayer

God, who is selfless and all-powerful, please forgive me for my sins, especially the sin of not putting You first in my life. I want to live my life in a way that shows how gracious and kind You are. Also, please give me the courage to say what needs to be said to praise and exalt You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
