Devotional Reflection
How do we make ourselves happy? If it's based on how we look, we're all in trouble, because these things aren't going to be great for long. Paul said he had figured out how to live above the circumstances of life. Jesus Christ was the answer. Jesus was his promise that our problems would not last forever, no matter how hard they were. Jesus would give him the strength to keep going no matter how hard life was. Paul is just as sure that Jesus will do this for you and for me.
Prayer
Thank you, God of glory and might, for describing Your awesome power in the Bible. When I face my challenges, they give me hope and courage. I have faith that Jesus can help me through today's challenges and keep me strong. I apologize for not turning to You during those times and being open with You about my struggles. O LORD, I require the fortitude, solace, and presence of Christ right now. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
I don't know about you, but I know that all the conveniences I've let into my life have made me soft and spoiled. Could I still praise and thank God if all of these comforts disappeared all at once? I really do want to be like Paul and know that with Christ's help, I can handle anything that comes my way.
Prayer
Without You, God, I would lose my strength and lose faith in myself. I'm glad I'll never have to worry about this because Your grace, Your Spirit, and Your Son will strengthen me and help me get through any storm. Thank You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
There are many ups and downs in life. Death, disaster, and decay can touch so much of what we love. What can we know for sure? Who can give us peace of mind? Where do we get the strength to live victorious lives in both good and bad times? In the Lord, who strengthens us!
Prayer
O LORD God, Father of all creation, I acknowledge that my life and the conditions in which I strive to live it are beyond my capacity to control. I appreciate You for being present to comfort, protect, lead, and enable me to confront each scenario with confidence and assurance. Whenever I am with You, O loving Shepherd, I know I will have everything I need to live victoriously for You until the day I go to share in Your glory. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
