King James Version

Passage Context

2I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.
3And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
4Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
5Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Devotional Reflection

LoveJoyGratitudeHope

Joy comes from God, not from things. Joy comes from knowing that He will always be with me, help me, protect me, and hold me up. How could I not be happy? God loves me so much that He gave up His most valuable possession so that I could join Him in heaven. Because of His grace, I have joy.

Prayer

Dear Father, I appreciate your constant presence, your awareness of what is on my mind, and your unfathomable love for me. I yearn to meet you in person and rejoice with you in heaven's unrestrained joy. Until then, I am genuinely happy because I know that you are in charge of my future. In the steadfast name of my Lord and Savior, thank you. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Since the Lord is close, we can cheer and treat others with tenderness. He is close because He lives in us through His Spirit. He is close because His coming is within reach. He is close because when we gather with other believers, serve those in need, or share the Gospel with friends and people of different cultures, He has promised to accompany us. Nothing is more contagious than a happy, kind person. Since Jesus lives in us, cares for us, and is coming for us, we can be both joyful and gentle!

Prayer

Father, Knowing that I will never be alone makes me very happy. For sending Jesus to die for my sins, I am grateful. I appreciate that You sent Jesus to be with me when I meet with other Christians, serve people in Jesus' name, and preach the gospel. Please allow my life and the way I serve others to reflect the deep delight I experience because of His presence. I pray in the sacred name of Jesus. Amen.

HopeGrief

Sometimes the fights in church can be disheartening and make us forget how blessed we are to be part of God's family. There are many reasons why we should be happy in the Lord. Let's not forget about them, especially when people around us are being mean and competitive. Let's not forget that our hope is in the crucified Nazarene, who is also our risen Lord and is with us all the time.

Prayer

Father, thank you that knowing Jesus brings me joy. I'm glad that through His death and resurrection, You have saved me. With joy, I look forward to the big party that will happen when He comes back to share Your glory with me and everyone else who has been waiting for Him to return. Even when I feel the most hopeless, I thank You for the glimmer of hope and the certainty that I will win, which keeps my deep and lasting joy of being Your child alive. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen.

Prayer

Dear Father, Thank you for being there for me all the time, knowing what's on my mind, and caring for me in ways I can't even imagine.
