The words of those who are good have a way of making other people's lives better. It could be a word of encouragement, a carefully chosen speech, wise advice, a message of comfort, the truth in what they teach, or being true to what they say they will do. The words of good people are always a blessing, no matter how they look. But fools don't pay attention to the wise. They choose their own path and turn away from truth, wisdom, and God, only to find that their lives have no meaning and are full of foolishness.

Prayer

Father God, You are the source of all truth and wisdom. Please help me find the righteous people around me and give me the sense to listen to what they say. Please keep me from falling into the traps of pride and arrogance as I seek to hear Your truth from people whose lives reflect Your character. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

I have numerous pals who speak with great wisdom. Everyone pays attention when they speak because their thoughts are always intelligent, well-timed, and important. Their upright lifestyles and wise use of words benefit and edify everyone who hears them. Others, on the other hand, are always talking about everything and spending little or no time doing what they teach. Their statements are dismissed as nothing more than their own need to hear their own thoughts on subjects about which they have little knowledge.

Prayer

Holy and wise God, please give me wisdom and self-control to keep my lips shut until what I say may benefit the people to whom I'm speaking. Help my remarks be useful and honest. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
