Devotional Reflection
Each of us is leaving a mark on the world. All of the people the Lord has put in our lives to touch will be changed by the way we live. This proverb reminds us that what we leave behind will last long after we are gone. If we live good lives, telling stories about them to future generations will be a blessing for a long time to come. On the other hand, if we let evil take over our lives, we will leave behind the smell of something useful that has gone bad and something durable that has been left to rot.
Prayer
O powerful God, I pray that my life will be a blessing to my children and their children, whether they are physical or spiritual children. May the way I live my life bring You glory and help others learn about You and Your grace. Forgive me when I don't realize how far my influence reaches, and help me see the people You send my way on purpose to touch with Your grace. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
God's wisdom is sometimes short, sweet, and to the point for those who want to do His will. I want my kids and grandkids to think of me fondly because their dad and granddad tried to be good and loved the Lord with all their hearts. I don't want to live in a way that hurts the people around me and leaves a bad legacy for my children and grandchildren.
Prayer
O Holy and Righteous Father, I want my character to be a blessing to my children, their children, and their children's children. Please give me wisdom, discernment, tact, honor, integrity, and compassionate holiness in everything I do, say, and influence. May I be a godly example and leave a good memory for my physical and spiritual families. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
