Devotional Reflection
I grew up in a house with three brothers. Dad thought that every boy had to burn off a certain amount of testosterone every day. If it wasn't burned off often, the house would become unlivable very quickly. Proverbs 19:15 was written in his DNA, so he didn't have to learn it. As a child, I didn't understand why hard work was important. I knew that they didn't call it "hard" by accident! I was happy to be a lollygagger, which means "Solomon's old lazy, shiftless guy" in East Texan English. As I've gotten older, I've learned that there are many good things about working hard with my hands, but none about being lazy.
Prayer
Please, all-powerful God El Shaddai, show me how to find a good balance between work and rest. Help me find a happy medium between the two so I can honor You and demonstrate how well You manage my thoughts and time. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
