Devotional Reflection

Respect your parents. God's plan for our lives includes this in large measure. Respecting and obeying one's parents is beneficial for children in homes that are based on God's covenant of grace. When we treat our parents with honor and respect as adults, we preserve their dignity and impart valuable life lessons to our children. Let's resist joining the parental criticism trend. Let's show God our respect by being kind to our parents. (If your parents were abusive or ungodly, seek out senior members of your church family to support you spiritually and emotionally. As much as you can, treat your true parents with honesty, respect, and integrity.)

Prayer

For my parents, whether they were real or not, I am grateful to you, Loving Father and Eternal God. Give them what they most urgently need so that they may return to you. Give me knowledge so I may understand how to treat them with the utmost respect and love. Help them, most of all, to see that my love and character are a reflection of you, Father. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
