Devotional Reflection

God gives people who seek Him water to drink and food to eat. This is a message that comes up over and over in the Bible. So often, we try to fill the emptiness in our hearts and ease the pain in our souls with temporary things that can't do what only God can. Let's turn away from every false happiness and look to the Lord.

Prayer

Forgive me, dear Father, for trying to fill my soul's hunger with things that don't really feed it. (Admit the area of temptation that most often causes you to fail in this area, such as sex, status, possessions, economic security, chemical dependency, abusing food, body identity, etc.) As I look for You, dear LORD, please show me that You are there and quench my soul's thirst and hunger. In the name of my Lord Jesus. Amen.
