Psalm 119:1 Β· KJV
"Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD."
King James Version
What does Psalm 119:1 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
As Christians, we hear this passage a little differently than people who lived under the Torah, or the Law of Moses. We know that Jesus' death on the Cross, where He gave His life as a sacrifice for us, gives us a clean slate (Romans 5:6-11; Colossians 1:19-22). We know that following the law doesn't make us right (Romans 3:28; Galatians 2:16, 3:11, 24, 5:4). Instead, we do our best to follow the Lord's way out of gratitude for God's great grace and with the help of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-4). Many good things happen when we do what God wants. We don't have to wait until the future to receive these blessings; they start as soon as we become Christians.
Prayer
Father, thank you for all the good things you have done for me. As I try to live my life according to your will, I am blessed by your presence and grace. Please give me the wisdom and courage to do what you want me to do. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
