Devotional Reflection
How significant is purity to you? How significant is being righteous to you? Guarding his heart was of utmost significance to David because he had already felt the joy of having a close, holy connection with God and the terrible anguish of horribly failing God. He didn't want to participate in anything wicked. He didn't want his attention drawn to it. He didn't want to associate himself with people who carried out heinous acts. He wasn't even interested in partaking in the feasts and extravagances. What are we prepared to ask God to hide from us in order to protect us from evil?
Prayer
Father, don't allow the disgusting, horrifying, or horrible to tempt me. Give me a holy disgust for lies and deception. In order to avoid the trap set by the tempter and the things that would dishonor Your holy name, grant me the clarity of sight and the purity of heart to be able to see evil and the things connected to it. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
