Passage Context

2My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
3LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
4Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.

Devotional Reflection

GratitudeHopeFear

Time spent with our families, kids, parents, friends, and Christian brothers and sisters is extremely valuable. How do you spend your free time? Where do you put it to use? It's actually worth more than the money we invest, you know. Once lost, time cannot be recovered. Ask God for the ability to "know the time" so that you may recognize it for what it is and make the most use of it as you start each day. Time moves rapidly, and soon it will be swallowed by the advancing nighttime darkness, much like the early evening shadows. Do you really do present moment and long-range planning? "If the Lord wills!" Indeed I do.

Prayer

Give me the knowledge, O Eternal God, to use the time You have given me today for what is best, right, good, and useful. I want to devote my attention to something that will last forever. Please assist me in using my time to influence and bless everyone I come in contact with in order to draw them closer to You. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
